Here are a few things about myself, and why I want to be involved in the Pre-Dental Club presidency.

I will be applying for dental schools this year and I have already taken the DAT, I have a lot of service hours and shadowing hours.  I have been involved in the Pre-Dental club for the last 3 years and have enjoyed all the activities and visits from quality dental schools.  I feel like I have a lot of experience as a student preparing for dental school, I “know the ropes” and will be able to provide help to any student taking the same path.  I want to provide good opportunities for students to get dental related service that looks good on applications and help in any other way possible throughout the preparation process.

best regards,

Jordan Campbell

VCU Visit this Monday

VCU IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone mark your calendars and get ready for VCU because they are coming THIS MONDAY, April 2nd @ 3:00 in the Marriott Health Bld. room 304.
This is a huge deal! VCU is a great school and has been renovating their facilities to meet the demands of the students who need to learn on new equipment! ALSO, and this is huge, VCU has a 98% specialty placement!! WOW!! This means that if you go to VCU and you have the grades and all the other requirements to apply to a specialty program you have a 98% chance of being accepted!!!!
Another great thing about coming to this meeting is that it will be presented by Dr. Healy HIMSELF! Dr. Healy is the Associate Dean of Admissions and you can get your name out to him so that when you apply you will have something to talk about with him (Dr. Healy Conducts all the Interviews!!!!).
As always food will be provided by the club! Hope to see a bunch of students there. If you see a fellow club member please spread the word to make this meeting a big deal so Dr. Healy will see that he is very popular at WSU and he’ll know his trip was well worth it!!!!
Remember these presentations are for all you up coming Dental School Applicants to get your name out there and so you can weigh the benefits of each school that you will applying to!!!
In Summary:
When: April 2nd
Time: 3:00 pm
Where: Marriott Health
Room: 304

Here is a brief summary of myself, things the club does well that I want to maintain, and stuff I think we can improve:

I will be applying to dental school this upcoming cycle and have already taken the DAT.
I think the club this year did many awesome things.  Two of those are the great schools we had come such as Louisville, Indiana, Dalhousie, and VCU this Monday!  The other great thing is the DAT prep course.  We have updated it this year and will be better than ever.  The material and methods we will use to teach the course is the same as students do across the nation that score well above the national mean.  The WSU pre-dental club boasts applicants of higher DAT scores than the national mean and that is why we have such good dental schools visit us.  I want to keep this up!
The one big thing I want to fix this year is participation in the club.  I want to give everyone an opportunity to be active in the club.  When you’re not in the presidency it feels like not much is going on, I want to change that.  I will bring a new way for the club to talk to the members by text message.  Also, I know multiple dentists and specialists around the community that have agreed to come and give presentations to us.  The club does well to provide info to students almost done in undergrad, but we can do better with freshman and sophomores.
In summary: If you vote for me, all of your wildest dreams will come true…
Thanks guys,
Brendan Squier

Pre-Dental Presidency Application

There are many words that come to mind when thinking about the Pre-Dental club and what we do and who we are, but the word that sums it all up I think is the word HELP.

What does a club here at Weber State do? It gives us students with similar interest a place to meet, mingle and be involved.  As an incoming freshman a few years back, I was a little duck in a big pond. With tons and tons of questions about what classes to take, what teachers to avoid, how the DAT works, etc.  I felt like the pre dental club HELPed me along the way.

For the upcoming school year, I would like to return the favor and HELP those in need. By being part of the pre-dental club, I have gained insights to many different things that I wouldn’t have known other wise. By being in the presidency this past year, I have a few insights of how the club works, and what doesn’t work. If reelected I would continue to HELP others, and be involved and get others involved. I want to HELP those incoming students and current students along the path that I was once HELPed on.

Thank you for your consideration, I promise to make the WSU’s Pre-Dental program a better club for everyone. I want to HELP you.

Alex’s platform for president

The following is my podium for becoming the Pre Dental Club President. My picture is also attached. Thanks!

My fellow future dentists… As you all know there is A LOT to do before we apply to dental school. From knowing all the steps of applying and doing it well, volunteering the right amount of hours, to shadowing for dentists. We need all the help we can get! For that reason exists the Pre Dental Presidency, we can help ALL of you on our journey together to being accepted to dental school, and eventually becoming the best dentists we can be. To do so, as president I’ve chosen to focus on three major points. Along with these three points, is how we can accomplish it them. The three points are as follows…

Networking

It’s always easier knowing someone on the inside. As president, we will get to know more dental schools, have one on one time with actual local dentists to ask questions about their process and what they’d do different.

DAT scores

What could help us obtain our well-deserved high DAT score? As president, I promise to do all I can so we, as pre dental students, have a conference with a representative from Kaplan, where we’ll be taught a free lesson on tips and tricks to obtain a better DAT score.

Frequent volunteer opportunities

Charity work is another element in being considered for a dental student. With more frequent opportunities to serve in our communities, the hours we want will not be an issue. There will always be a list of the current volunteer opportunities.
I ask for your vote, so we as pre dent

al students get the most out of our pre grad experience.

Club Presidency Elections

We will be having elections soon for new pre-dental club officers. If you are interested in being a part of the pre-dental club presidency for next year please attend a mandatory meeting this Wednesday at 7AM at Lind Lecture 128.
